Echo’s Build-and-Talk

What do we build?

In Echo sessions, you’ll build a small item like a birdhouse, stool, or desk drawer during a one-hour call.

  1. Choose an item: bedside table, bar stool, or crate.

  2. We deliver the kit to your door and to your Listener.

  3. You build together on the call.

Why do we build?

Building gives you a task to focus on, so you’re not just sitting there talking. By having your attention on an item it:

  • reduces emotional barriers,

  • enables new thoughts to flow,

  • makes talking easier since you’re not forced to open up.

You’re doing something while we figure things out, this is embodied cognition. The items you build reflect your internal state. As you build, you break old habits, and form new ones.

What do we talk about?

While you build, we’ll have a relaxed semi-structured conversation. We have structured values-focused approach:

  1. We identify your values: We examine past difficult decisions, where you stood your ground, where you didn’t.

  2. Enquire what liked/disliked about those moments,

  3. We co-create plans aligned to your goals, checking in with you as you pursue them.

Why talk?

We explore past uneasy moments, as they reveal where actions clash with your principles.

  • The outcomes of these moments can haunt us, influence our decisions, and lead to self-harming coping behaviours.

  • If we don’t explore, these behaviours and memories will remain.

From this map of your principles, we can effectively co-design goals and actions to rebuild yourself in a direction you wish.
